The Agriculture Awareness Sub-Program is designed to raise the profile of PEI agriculture among youth and the general public in PEI through agriculture promotional activities and events. The program develops and improve leadership, farm business and technical skills and encourage participation in conferences and special events for rural youth in order to increase their knowledge about agriculture.

The Agriculture Technology Advancement Sub-Program supports implementation and adoption of technologies and best management practices that lead to improved efficiencies and increased profit margins.
The Applied Research Sub-Program supports the undertaking of short-term applied research that will yield economic benefits to the PEI agriculture industry. Research funded under this sub-program will provide data to develop new production methods, fill information gaps as well as to provide support to emerging commodities.

The Assurance Systems Program provides assistance for activities to support the implementation of recognized assurance systems on-farm, in food processing enterprises, and/or post-farm agri-food enterprises. This project-driven program is primarily directed at agricultural industry groups and post-farm enterprises that market or modify raw agricultural products. Industry will set their priorities and lead producer adoption of systems that benefit the sector as a whole or benefit a large portion of the sector’s producers. Submissions from individuals may be considered based on merit and potential benefit to the industry. This program also provides support for surveillance and emergency management preparedness and planning.

The Agriculture Labour Sub-Program facilitates the development of projects designed to build the capacity of the PEI agricultural workforce.
The Benchmarking and Risk Management Sub-Program facilitates the development of projects to build the capacity of PEI agricultural producers, small to medium-sized agri-businesses, and agricultural organizations to measure aspects of their performance and compare them to industry standards.
The Building Sector Capacity Sub-Program assists sectors to implement their key priorities. Examples include organizational development, activities which will expand domestic and international markets for Prince Edward Island producers and small to medium-sized agri-businesses. The program will facilitate the development of projects designed to enhance the capacity of PEI producers, small to medium-sized agri-businesses, and organizations to respond to change.
The Business Planning Sub-Program supports PEI agricultural producers, small to medium-sized agri-businesses, and agriculture organizations with business, financial, and operations management activities.
The Training Sub-Program supports the agriculture sector by providing funding for skills training and is comprised of three training categories:

The Strategic Industry Growth Initiative (SIGI) is designed to increase the competitiveness, productivity and profitability of the agriculture industry through a coordinated effort to accelerate the development and successful commercialization of food products from Prince Edward Island. This program will primarily focus on projects which will increase the competitiveness, productivity, and profitability of Prince Edward Island’s agriculture and agri-food sector by identifying, creating, or maintaining market and innovation-based opportunities; facilitating value-chain development; and encouraging the formation of strategic relationships. Priority will be given to holistic projects whose outcomes have broad sector and/or industry benefits.
