Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plans with improved pest monitoring and forecasting through data collection can provide crop protection while reducing the use of pest control products. Decision-making for the use of pest control products is based on information obtained and records kept through the growing season.
Invertebrate biological control agents (IBCA) can assist in managing pests on-farm in lieu of pest control products.
The use of physical anti-insect barriers can assist in managing pests while reducing the use of pest control products.

The Benchmarking and Risk Management Sub-Program facilitates the development of projects to build the capacity of PEI agricultural producers, small to medium-sized agri-businesses, and agricultural organizations to measure aspects of their performance and compare them to industry standards.
Provides support when a producer experiences larger farm income losses. The program covers declines of more than 30% in a producer's average income from previous years.

A program which includes insurance against production losses for specified perils (weather, pests, disease) and is being expanded to include more commodities.
A savings account for producers, which provides coverage for small income declines and allows for investments that help mitigate risks or improve market income.
